TG4 at Murrisk N.S.

by Sadie, Gracie & Annabelle
Tg4 is an Irish broadcasting service and they recently came to our school for Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025 to talk to some of us about St. Patrick. We climbed the reek with Tg4 where we did sang, danced and performed the tin whistle at the statue. Some people got interviewed up at the statue, while others got interviewed down in our classrooms where we had lovely art and decorations to make our classrooms look festive. After that we danced the Siege of Ennis. When the camera crew left they gave everyone a goodie bag. Bhí an-spórt againn agus bhaineamar an-taitneamh as Gaeilge a labhairt ar feadh an lae.

G.A.A Training by Lucas, James and Simon
Girls train on Wednesday mornings and boys train on Thursday mornings. We participate in drills and 1v1s. We start at 8:25 AM and end at 8:50 AM. Mr Cunnane and Helen are very good coaches and they ensure we have a really fun time. We all really passionate about G.A.A. We are getting ready for the Cuman na mbunscol competition and we are all looking forward to playing in it. Hopefully we will win the West Mayo Championships.

Junior Infants 2024/2025 by Daisy and Gracie

This year we have 7 new junior infants including Kariem, Robin, Slava, James, Sophie, Tommy and Darragh. Every morning they do some warmups with Cathy to start their day. Their teacher Ms Feeney teaches them something fun and active everyday. For the first break they play on the astro and on the second break they play in the playground. They go home at half 1. There is lots of play and excitement in the Junior Room. We wish them a great school year! From the Senior room!
Cross Country by Sadie and Sophie

This year 3rd - 6th class entered a cross country tournament on the 18th of September 2024. It was held across the road in the millennium park . There were sixteen pupils competing including Sadie, Sophie, Annabelle, Daisy, Gracie, Olivia, Katelyn, Ronan, Simon, Anthony, James, Luke, Eli, Hazel, Liam and Ella May. We are very thankful that we had the opportunity to practise on the track and that it was just across the road from the school. We were so lucky to have great weather for the race.
Yoga by Nathan, Simon and Oleg

For yoga we do things such as breathing exercises, poses, teamwork exercises and fun games. Some of the poses we do include tree pose and warrior which require a lot of balance and concentration. The breath work is very nice and relaxing for the whole class. One of the fun yoga games we do is where someone calls out a pose to walk around as, and after a minute they say “back to back” and we have to run and find a partner to go back to back as fast as possible. Yoga is really nice and relaxing for the whole class.
STEAM by Lucas and Ronan

We have been using the Lego spike and Bee bots weekly. My favourite one is the Lego spike. Ronan’s is the same. Steam is great for learning. The whole Class absolutely loves them. We have to work together to build really fun things like carnival rides. We use the Chromebooks to program the constructions to move.
