Welcome to our school website. Murrisk N.S. (St Augustine's) is a co-ed primary school located at the foot of Croagh Patrick, overlooking the Islands of Clew Bay. We hope our website gives parents, guardians, families and the wider community a look at what goes on in our vibrant little school. All staff members strive to create a warm and caring learning environment for our pupils to feel safe and happy each and every day. Murrisk N.S. is an inclusive school that is respectful of all religions and beliefs.

Digital Learning 2023 by Alfie

Here in Murrisk N.S, we have chrome books that we use twice a week. We use apps like Google Jamboard where we make posters to showcase all the knowledge we’ve learned on a particular topic.Ms McWalter assigns us work on Google Classroom. While using the chrome books we improve our digital skills learning.

Music at Murrisk 2023 by Ruairí

This year we’re learning to play the ukulele and tin whistle in 3rd - 6th class. Ms Finnerty and Ms Mc Walter are teaching us how to play the tin whistle. We can bring our instruments in from home as well during singing practice. Music Generation come to our school to teach the ukulele.

Running Club 2023 by Paudie

Murrisk N.S provides an optional running club which takes place once every week in the millennium park and on the greenway. We wear hi-vis jackets for safety. There are always 2 leaders who are responsible for all the children; the leaders are Mr Cunnane and Ms McWalter. Last year we reached up to 3 km and plan on achieving the same or more this year. It is also a great way for the children to interact with each other. Our views are savage!

Science Week 2023 By Gracie

For Science Week we've created slime with Ms. Finnerty from 3rd-6th, we also made science projects through-out the week for our science exhibition on 16/11/23. The junior room did science stations with Mrs. Feeney, Ms Finnerty, Mr Cuannane, and Cathy.

For science week the senior room was learning about magnets and electricity, we were learning about how some objects are magnetic and how some aren't. We were also trying to find out if magnets worked through solids with Mrs. Mc Walter.

Credit Union Quiz

Well done to everyone in the Senior room who took part in the Credit Union Quiz in January.

Catholic Schools Week

Some short video clips from our prayer service on Croagh Patrick for Catholic Schools week. The children wrote their own prayers about what they are grateful for in their lives and for people they felt needed their prayers at this time.

Congrats to Alfie, Paudie, Ruairi and Nathan who represented the school in the recent Cumann na mBunscol Sports Quiz.

They finished in 2nd place in their West Area Quiz and qualified for the County Final.

This County Final took place in An Sportlann in Castlebar. The team narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Connacht finals by just a few points. Congrats to the 4 boys! We are super proud of you!

St Patrick's day celebrations

Our Easter celebrations at school today included a fabulous performance from the Senior room, followed by an Easter Egg hunt.

Well done to the our boys and girls Cumann na mBunscol teams who took part in their West Area blitz this week.

Huge congrats to the boys team who won their blitz final and have now qualified for the County Quarter-Final!
